You’ve probably heard the term “superfood” used quite a bit in the health food world, but what does it actually mean?
Research shows that the foods we eat have a powerful effect on mood, how we age, our brain health and can change us on a cellular level.
A “superfood” refers to a food that’s rich in nutrients and extremely beneficial to your well-being. In most cases “superfoods” include organic, plant-based, whole foods.
In today’s processed and fast food diet, superfoods can - at times - be few and far between.
But when it comes right down to it, these superfoods are exactly what your body truly needs and craves.
Not only do these foods provide the vitamins and minerals, they have countless other benefits as well.
Why Turmeric? This ancient root is loaded with antioxidants, and it has been used for nearly 5,000 years. And it is recognized by modern science and has been explored in over 3,000 studies spanning the last 25 years!
- AND our turmeric is sourced from a farm that gives computers and furniture to impoverished schools in India.
- The farm also provides water to local villages in need, and offers health camps for those in need.
- They’ve engaged over 3,000 farmers in rural India and provided them with necessary equipment for successful farming.
Ginger
Ginger has been used for thousands of years to assist the body's immune system and disease fighting capabilities. It provides a little 'bite' of flavor to this tea, while at the same time assisting in soothing the body to support the rest, digestion and stress (through its adaptogenic qualities).
Reishi Mushroom
Known as the “Queen of Mushrooms” and has been used to support wellness for over 2,000 years. It’s studied most commonly for its relaxation benefits. This ingredient comes from the “fruiting body” of the mushroom - and for every 8 lbs of fresh mushrooms, we extract 1 lb of its most potent, nutrient-dense extract for our gold chocolate.
* Reishi is also what is known as “adaptogen” and has been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It has the unique ability to ADAPT its function according to your body’s specific needs. The effects of an adaptogen may be subtle in the beginning, but just wait a couple weeks, and you’ll notice REAL changes in your body!
The beautiful thing about an adaptogen is that it can actually create calmness while also increasing energy!
And Of Course, Turkey Tail Mushroom
another powerful immune supporter: This immune-boosting fungus has been used in China since the 15th century. It is rich in antioxidants and supports recovery.
(Turkey tail has a long history of use in Asia among practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, who used it to promote general health, strength and longevity. It has long been used to fight off colds and flu and fight off infections/disease.)
- It is also rich in beta-glucans
- Rich in antioxidants
- Feeds beneficial bacteria in the gut (prebiotic), which boosts the immune system
nightly before bed beverage
“This has become a staple in our house. Everyone enjoys the relaxing effect and delicious flavor. What a super great way to end the evening and destress. I love it and I love knowing that this is a healthy nightly habit that is beneficial to everyone in my family. ”
Lemon Balm
Considered “The Calming Herb” and has been prescribed by doctors since the Middle Ages as a natural remedy to promote rest.
Magnesium
The importance of magnesium in your health journey:
- This is a mineral in the human body that’s required for over 300 biochemical reactions.
- It helps to promote relaxation.
- Magnesium actually regulates glucose and insulin levels, as well as the neurotransmitter dopamine!
This also has a high level of bioavailability and supports cellular energy production (aka Krebs Cycle if you want to look that up!) and the healthy removal of heavy metals, such as aluminum, so count this as a win for detox too!
Organic Black Pepper Extract
Has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, is loaded with antioxidants and has been shown to increase nutrient absorption.
Ceylon Cinnamon
Also known as Real or True Cinnamon. A spice derived from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum evergreen tree. It contains potent antioxidants.
Organic Acacia Powder
A prebiotic from the sap of the acacia tree, helping to promote good bacteria in the gut, counteracting bad bacteria.
Organic Coconut Milk Powder
A great source of saturated fat and medium chain triglycerides (MCTs - to help boost metabolism), shown to boost absorption of nutrients.
Himalayan Sea Salt
“The purest salt in the world” and an important electrolyte (for cell health), with over 84 elements in their natural form to help balance pH levels.
“The Drink of the Gods”, according to the Mayans, for its mineral composition, antioxidants, and healthy polyphenols shown to boost mood and cultivate calmness.

Did you know that hot chocolate has been enjoyed around the world for thousands of years as a health beverage?
The history of your favorite healthy cup of hot chocolate dates back to 500 BC on the land where Mexico is today. The Mayans made their drinking chocolate from ground up cacao seeds, cornmeal, and chili peppers mixed with water. Hot chocolate was regarded as a luxury. (Elites and royalty were even buried with it!)
Eventually, in the early 1500s, it made its way to Europe, when explorer Cortez brought some cacao beans and hot chocolate making tools from Central-America. Enjoying a cup of healthy hot chocolate became popular quickly among Spanish royalty and upper class. Though the Spanish were originally very protective of their sacred drink, over time hot chocolate made its way across Europe.
In the 1700s chocolate houses opened in London. Throughout the centuries, the Europeans also added more sweetness and spices, and eventually milk, to the original, simple and slightly bitter drink.
Hot chocolate was viewed as a health drink until the 19th century. Thomas Jefferson even referred to it as a healthy beverage choice!
In fact, the Mayan version of today’s hot chocolate was historically used for its medicinal and nutritional properties to combat a long list of health hurdles and chronic conditions (including everything from indigestion to hemorrhoids!).
The Classic Hot Chocolate Grande at Starbucks?
It has almost 33 Grams of Sugar...
(By the way, that’s more sugar than you should have in an entire DAY.)
And DIY cocoa from a package isn’t much better...
One envelope of a conventional hot chocolate mix has 90 calories and 11 grams of sugar.
And the ingredient list of most hot chocolate mixes is not what anyone would call healthy...
Sugar, corn syrup, cocoa processed with alkali, modified whey, hydrogenated coconut oil, nonfat milk, salt, dipotassium phosphate, carrageenan, mono- and diglycerides, cesium potassium, sucralose, and artificial flavor. (You can’t even pronounce most of these ingredients.)
Gold Chocolate is a decadent, delicious cocoa drink curated to support the body’s innate and restorative processes while you sleep.
Every soothing sip is meant to cultivate a calmer state of mind and reward you with rest and relaxation ... all in a delicious treat ...
This is simply the most powerful energetic supporter out there - given to you via a potent cocktail made up of some our world’s most powerful (and delicious) ingredients, designed to literally help you R&R.
