With the sort of toxic environment we live in and foods all around us that do more harm to our bodies than good (sugar, artificial ingredients, chemicals, GMOs, etc.), it's no surprise that we all could use a good detox.
Today I want to tell you about my friend, Liana Werner-Gray. Native to Australia, Liana is author of the brand new book The Earth Diet. The Earth Diet was designed around Liana’s personal transformation and an experience she encountered while healing herself from a pre-cancerous tumor!
In the video above, Liana talks about how her old diet, we’ll call it the Standard Australian Diet (see what I did there?). This diet was the catalyst to an unhealthy body and even an environment for cancer growth. She noticed something wasn’t right with her throat and a visit to the doctor confirmed that it was a tumor and it was pre-cancerous.
Now, we always advise that you take your doctors advice and ask him or her if it’s safe to try a healthy and nutritious diet, alongside the application of modern medicine. In Liana’s case, she challenged herself to eat only “Foods From The Earth” for 365 days. In a very short time, the tumor had disappeared! Liana also used the recipes in her book to help her mother fight breast cancer, which has been in remission for 2 years! How amazing is that?

Ancient Chinese tales claim NO ONE could approach the emperor without some cloves in their mouth to sweeten their breath (I’ll remember that on my next trip to Hong Kong). In the Molucca islands in Indonesia, a clove tree was planted for each newborn child. It was said in folklore that the child’s destiny was linked to the destiny of the tree from that point on.
Today, cloves still have many medicinal benefits (1). Eugenol, a natural antiseptic within clove, has been used in remedying coughs and sinus infections and when used topically, can help clear up skin. It also has pain relieving properties and soothes indigestion.
A symbol of power and wealth for thousands of years, Ginger has unprecedented claims throughout history of its medicinal, spiritual, physical, meta-physical and even sexual benefits. (2).
Romans of antiquity stated: “eat ginger, and you will love and be loved as in your youth.” Confucius claimed he ate ginger with every single meal. Japanese and Chinese medicine men prescribed ginger for joint pain and pain during menstruation. Recent studies have shown that ginger can boost immunity and some studies show it fights and prevents colectoral and ovarian cancer.
We’ve covered the benefits of lemons a bazillion times here before, but just a quick recap (deep breath): lemons are amazing at alkalaizing the body, boosting the immune system, detoxifying the liver, strengthening blood vessels and fighting cancer with it’s limonene and flavonol glycosides. (3).
