"How are you?"
"Tired."Â
How many of you feel like being tired is an inherent part of your personality at this point?Â
I know I've been there.Â
The truth is though, you don't have to live your life so constantly tired! It's possible to do the things you do, work the job you work, be the person you are and maintain consistent energy.Â
Don't believe me? Give this 5 Day Energy Boosting Challenge a good try and see for yourself how possible it can be!
But first things first...Â
Why Am I So Tired?
This is a question I hear all the time. I feel that it is important to get to the root of this question because it's likely part of the reason why you are even reading this article in the first place.
Of course there are many perfectly normal reasons to be tired. Kids, grand kids, a demanding job, anxiousness about a big life event, etc. But what if you are just tired ALL THE TIME… despite the amount of things going on in your life? You wake up tired… go to bed tired… do most things, well, tired!
There could be some underlying conditions to your energy crisis. Let’s explore the most common conditions and begin to take inventory of your own personal experience with... FATIGUE.
There are a few major things that can cause fatigue, these are some of the most common:Â
#1. Thyroid/Adrenal ImbalanceÂ
The thyroid gland sits in the middle of your neck and is one of the largest endocrine glands in the body. It is primarily responsible for hormone creation and secretion.
When your thyroid isn’t working properly, it can feel like you’re driving a car with a gas pedal that is very hard to push down, or, it pushes down too easily and you quickly run out of fuel.
#2. Sleep ApneaÂ
Approximately 18 million Americans are effect by sleep apnea. It most often occurs because of soft tissue in the back of the throat collapsing and obstructing the airway during sleep. This causes one to stop breathing multiple times throughout the night and get less than the necessary amount of oxygen. Â
#3. Sedentary Lifestyle
It may seem counterintuitive, but not moving enough actually increases your levels of fatigue. Your body is meant to be IN MOTION. Studies have shown that adults who exercise as little as 20 minutes a day feel less fatigued than those who don’t.
Moving more doesn’t have to be hard or exhausting. You can do things as simple as regular walks, hiking, playing a sport, doing yoga, playing frisbee in the park during lunch hours… whatever you'd like!
#4. Leaky Gut SyndromeÂ
Leaky Gut Syndrome happens when your digestive tract becomes semi-permeable and allows food and nutrients to slip into the bloodstream before being properly digested. This causes poor nutrient absorption, food allergies and can become a root cause to many chronic conditions such as liver failure, diabetes, autoimmunity and joint problems.
#5. Blood Sugar ImbalanceÂ
If you are always tired then there’s a huge chance that there is something going on with your blood sugar. Most blood sugar imbalances can be easily fixed, but if you aren’t aware of them they can lead to more serious chronic issues like type 2 diabetes.
Blood sugar levels become unbalanced when your diet is too high in various forms of sugar (anyone eating the Standard American Diet would fall into this category). You experience mood swings because you are getting high doses of sugar (energy) followed by inevitable crashes and phases of fatigue.
#6. AnemiaÂ
Anemia is where you have low levels of red blood cells. It is diagnosed by detecting low iron, vitamin B12 and folate levels in the blood. It can be caused by a diet low in nutrients or blood loss.
#7. Lack Of Living FoodsÂ
Many people eat a diet almost entirely composed of DEAD, COOKED, PROCESSED foods. These may have some nutritional value, but will not give you anywhere near the energy and vitality that you get from real living foods.Â
How often are you eating raw foods? This would include fresh fruits and vegetables, leafy greens, raw and unroasted nuts and seeds, fresh vegetable juice, etc. Raw foods are packed full of energy because they are living! When you eat them, you transfer that living energy to your own body.
How To Increase Energy For 5 Days
Alright, now that you have a better idea of why someone might be so tired and actually be struggling with fatigue, it's time to dive into how you can naturally bring your energy levels back up in just 5 days.
Day One: Incorporate Adatogenic Herbs
Adaptogens are a truly astonishing group of herbs that help the body to maintain homeostasis (balance). Unlike coffee, sugar, energy drinks and other stimulants, adaptogenic herbs will help you have sustained energy and vitality while also giving you a clearer mind and sense of calm.
One of the easiest ways to get in some good adaptogens is finding some good juice powder that already has some in the mix, such as our very own Organifi Red Juice.
Organifi Red Juice includes some of the most powerful adaptogens, including ashwagandha, rhodiola, cordyceps, Asian ginseng, reishi mushroom and more. Be sure to jump over to our shop and find out more about why Organifi Red is such a powerful energy booster.  Â
Day Two: Replace Sugary Drinks With Electrolytes
Electrolytes are a group of micronutrients and minerals that break down into positively or negatively charged ions. These ions generate electricity in your body and are responsible for maintaining proper fluid balance, good nerve-impulse transmission and muscle contractions. These include:
- Sodium
- Chloride
- Phosphate
- Potassium
- Calcium
- Magnesium
The loss or imbalance of electrolytes can lead to muscle cramps, fatigue, nausea, brain fog, trouble operating throughout the day and overall sluggishness.
Some of the top ways to get in some good electrolytes includes drinking coconut water (you can easily flavor coconut water to make it a delicious, refreshing beverage), juicing vegetables and drinking Organifi Red Juice (which also includes coconut water as an ingredient).Â
Day Three: Earthing + Sun ExposureÂ
Mother earth is a six sextillion metric ton battery that is continuously being recharged by the sun’s solar energy, lightning and heat from her core. Her surface is alive with pulsating frequencies that are vital to the biological machinery of global life. Her energy literally influences every living thing on the planet! Including YOU.
You are an electrical being. Your body is made up of billions upon billions of atoms that make up your 100 trillion cells. Each atom is a particle of energy. Connecting with the earth literally can help recharge your body and naturally enhance not only your energy, but also your mental focus, ability to combat inflammation, strength to recover from pain or injury and more.Â
While you are earthing (literally standing barefoot out on the grass, the sand, etc.), you can also take the opportunity to absorb some sunshine and vitamin D. You should be getting at least 10 minutes of sun exposure everyday without sunblock.Â
Just like the earth helps balance your electrical systems and is vital to your wellbeing, the sun also plays a role in balancing your hormones and energy levels. Light from the sun triggers wake-up chemicals and helps to boost energy.
Day Four: Start Walking, Biking Or Other Easy Activity For 20-40 MinsÂ
If you’re feeling sluggish and tired a lot, you will almost definitely benefit from more movement! It may seem counterintuitive, but getting reasonable amounts of exercise can actually BOOST your overall energy and vitality.
Daily exercise can help increase endorphins, which are your body's natural "feel good" hormones, improve sleep and strengthen your heart health.Â
Like I said before, you don't have to do anything crazy every day. Start taking a daily walk around the block, try biking, pick up a yoga routine or something else you like and enjoy. Aim for 20-40 minutes every day and see how you feel.
Day Five: Eat 5 RAW, Fresh Fruits/Vegetables Every Day
You are what you eat (and as I like to say, what you absorb!). If the bulk of your diet is dead, cooked, processed and low-nutrient foods, you are going to feel tired, sluggish, often sick and develop various health problems over time.
On the other hand, when you fill your body with nutrient-dense whole foods, you are going to feel energetic, strong, rarely (if ever) sick and able to function and thrive well in your life.
Start by incorporating at least 5 raw, fresh fruits and veggies into your diet every day. You can do this however you want - smoothies, salads, juices, snacks, etc. - just as long as the food is raw, fresh and vibrant, it's perfect.Â
Conclusion
Building up these energy-boosting methods over the next 5 days is seriously going to start shifting your energy. But of course, it doesn't stop there!
Once you've gotten through the next 5 days, the trick is to keep incorporating these into your daily routine until they become long-term habits... that's when the real changing and shifting will start to come to life and become CONSISTENT.Â
