A Banana-Coffee Protein Smoothie to Power You Up

This banana and coffee protein smoothie could be your new morning go-to drink or breakfast.

You can thank us later.

Now, there’s a 50/50 chance you’re thinking there’s something morally wrong with putting bananas and coffee together. In a blender.

If that’s you, please stay and hear us out! We promise this smoothie combo will surprise you and perhaps even delight you. To our “heck yes” peeps- you are in for a treat!

There’s something about bananas that just make them the perfect “grab and go” breakfast:

They’re healthy enough that you can feel good having one, small enough that you can just put it in a purse or backpack, and tasty enough to feel like a treat when you add even the tiniest bit of nut butter to them.

For many of us, there’s no breakfast without bananas.

And what’s not to love? Bananas are pretty awesome; they’re great sources of potassium with a low sodium count (good for maintaining blood pressure,) have Vitamin B6, C, and a nice amount of fiber, and they also taste great.

Most of us grew up adding bananas to cereals and smoothies, but as we get older, we slowly start to phase out bananas for a go-to morning coffee. We need to get up, stay up, and work. Bananas don’t always get that job done.

For some people, there’s no morning without coffee. We’ve all seen the mug “don’t talk to me before I’ve had my coffee” - we get it; it powers you up.

However, unfortunately, coffee is not a particularly nutritious drink. Not that it doesn’t have bragging rights; it could boost energy levels and -in moderation- may have health benefits of its own.

So why not have both?

In a power coffee protein smoothie, that also meets some of your protein needs and gives your morning routine a kick.

You can even add a subtle mocha flavor -sans sugary syrup- when you add a chocolate protein powder. Intrigued? Let’s dive in.

Power Up Your Mornings with this Banana-Coffee Protein Smoothie

This -if we may humbly say so- incredible coffee protein smoothie recipe came to be after several meetings with people outside our team. Almost every time we had to meet someone, we noticed that they’d grab a coffee and a banana in the break room.

We wondered, how can we make this healthier? How can we make this better?

So we put it to the test! We knew people needed:

  • Energy
  • Speed
  • Nutrition, and
  • Satisfaction

You’ll notice that our banana coffee protein smoothie has only five ingredients, packs 24.6 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber, and tastes surprisingly great!

It’s creamy, rich, sweet, and banana-healthy.

Why You’ll Love It:

Frozen bananas add a sweet, ice cream-like or milkshake-y base that makes the recipe feel a little like dessert. They’re also sweet and cover your sugar needs. Using coconut milk yogurt keeps the recipe vegan and complements the banana well, but regular greek yogurt will add some protein and healthful probiotics.

Peanut butter gives this banana-coffee protein smoothie recipe just enough healthy fats to keep your brain happy,  while also providing an unexpected kick to your morning brew. Any nut butter will do; if you don’t have a salted one - just add a tiny pinch of salt!

The chilled coffee will satisfy your cravings and give you that morning boost. However, the complete vegan protein is what turns this smoothie into a meal.

Of course, you can choose whatever protein powder you want, but we believe you’ll love our dairy-free Organifi Complete Protein because it has all the necessary amino acids to grow and maintain muscle, in addition to digestive enzymes to make it easy to absorb.

If you choose the Organifi Vanilla Protein flavor, then you’ll get a delicious and healthy iced coffee smoothie, if you go for the Organifi Chocolate Protein, you step it up a notch with a slight mocha flavor. It’s just another great way to play and learn how to use your Organifi products every day.

Good for Breakfast, Post-Workout, and Snack

It’s not just good for a quick breakfast!

If you’re hitting the gym in the morning or having a morning workout, we recommend trying our banana-coffee protein smoothie as a post-workout drink. It’s great for muscle recovery and formation, all while keeping you satisfied until your next meal.

However, we would not recommend having it after a mid-afternoon sweat or close to your bedtime if you find that coffee tends to wake you up. Have it before 11:00 AM for the best results.

Because of its extra creamy quality and unexpected ice-cream tones, we’ve also tried it as a snack in between meals and found it quite delicious. Topped with a few 70% dark chocolate chips, it turns into dessert.

We hope you enjoy this cold brew alternative, and if you do make it, tag us in your pics on social media - we love to see your creations. Share this coffee protein smoothie with that friend who always needs a cup of Joe to wake up.
