5-Day Green Juice & Smoothie Challenge

The decisions you make in the morning help influence the rest of your entire day.

It's true. The way you start your day sets the tone for your mood, the sort of decisions you'll make throughout the day (especially in regards to health) and how satisfied you'll feel by the time you're going to bed.

Sure, your day can improve even if you have a crappy morning, but why settle for a crappy start when you can have an energized, nourished, motivated start?

5-Day Green Juice & Smoothie Challenge

One of the best ways to kick off your day that I've come to know is drinking a cool, refreshing glass of green juice or smoothie.

Starting your day with a green juice or smoothie wakes your whole system up with a satisfying dose of nutrients and helps your body feel excellent from the very start. Depending on the ingredients you use, you can fuel your body with antioxidants, electrolytes, vitamins and minerals that do a whole lot of good for not just your physical health, but your mental health as well.

All you need to do for this 5-day challenge is start each day with a green juice or smoothie of your choice. Don't worry, if you don't want to track down your own recipes, I've got you covered!

You don't have to drink them in this order, just as long as you give each one of them a shining chance for the next 5 days. Variety helps your body benefit from a wide assortment of nutrients and ingredients.

#1. Fresh Kale Smoothie

Recipe credit: Prevention

Serves 2 (cut recipe in half for single serving)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granny smith apple chunks
  • ½ cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 4 kale leaves
  • ¼ cup fresh parley
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup ice

 

Instructions: Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

#2. Golden Beet Smoothie

Recipe credit: greenblender

Ingredients:

  • 4 golden beets (scrubbed, chopped)
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
  • 5 oz grapes
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice
  • Optional: throw in some additional greens (kale, romaine, etc)

 

Instructions: Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

#3. Banana Kale Protein Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz red Russian kale
  • 1 nectarine (pitted)
  • 1 tbsp protein (pea protein or Complete Protein powder)
  • 1 banana (peeled)
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seed protein
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

 

Instructions: Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

#4. Refreshing Green Juice

Ingredients: 

  • 1/2 green apple
  • 3 kale (Tuscan cabbage) leaves
  • 8 stems and leaves of mint
  • 3 limes, peeled
  • 1 ½ cucumbers
  • 2 handfuls of spinach

 

Instructions: Wash all ingredients and run through juicer and enjoy immediately.

#5. Lemon-Ginger Green Juice

Ingredients:

  • 1 pear (remove core)
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 small head of broccoli
  • 2 in (5 cm) piece of ginger
  • 1 lemon (peeled)
  • 5 celery stalks
  • ½ cucumber

 

Instructions: Wash all ingredients and run through juicer and enjoy immediately.

Be sure that your ingredients are all certified organic (if you do get any produce that's not organic, be sure to peel them before juicing/blending). If you're tight on time in the morning, make sure all your ingredients are pre-washed and chopped as needed the and have the equipment ready to go the night before.
