What if we told you, you can have chocolate and mint smoothie for breakfast, after a workout, or mid-afternoon snack and make both your belly and sweet tooth happy?
Even better, what if we told you it only had 5.5 grams of sugar in it, and none of it was artificial?
In Lizzo’s words, “You can have it all - no sacrifice!”
That’s how we feel about this protein mint smoothie; it’s creamy, refreshing, has a sneaky bit of chocolate in it, and it’s way healthier than you can imagine!
With a 100% plant-based recipe, this delicious drink is also vegan-friendly and gluten-free. It could be the perfect gateway to introduce more protein or veggies into your diet, (or your kids’) quick and pain-free.
It packs 42 grams of complete protein, and you can whip it up in less than five minutes, which makes it an excellent alternative for busy mornings. If a day sneaks up on you without a banana in sight and no breakfast at hand, reach for this healthy option instead of muffin or sugary donut.
Our mint smoothie is:
- Surprisingly nutritious
If you’re into Matcha Mint Lattes, Green Smoothies, and protein shakes this mint smoothie will be your new friend. Not just because it celebrates that minty flavor and it’s faster than fast-food (plus healthier!), but because it doubles as a multivitamin and it only has four ingredients.
Mix-n-Go Mighty Minty Protein Smoothie
One of the things we love about mint smoothies is that they feel like a gentle wake up call; the slight kick of the mint makes us feel alert and fresh.
You can probably whip this up without using fresh mint, but we really believe it brings out the flavor and the sensation. To make it, you’ll need the following:
- 2 scoops Organifi Complete Protein
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder (organic)
- 2 tbsp fresh mint
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or your other favorite milk
- Add all the ingredients into a blender.
- Blend until smooth.
Sip and Enjoy!
Each serving of our mighty mint smoothie recipe has:
- Protein: 42g
- Fat: 13.7g
- Saturated Fat: 7.4g
- Carbohydrates: 17.1g
- Fiber: 7.7g
- Sugar: 5.5
Make your own version of our mighty mint smoothie adding one or more of these ingredients. Some of these you might have at home already!
1 cup of spinach: adds one serving of vegetables without changing the taste. Mix for an extra 40 seconds to completely mask the texture.
Unsweetened chocolate chips. Makes it truly choco-minty and kid-friendly, especially if you added that cup of spinach.
1 tbsp flax or chia seeds to increase the fiber or protein content. Additionally, the seeds make it thicker if activated overnight and can turn your smoothie into pudding.
- 1 tbsp almond or other nut butter adds to the healthy fats count, increases the protein by a bit, and could also make it creamier. Healthy fats are good for the body and the brain, so the fact that it tastes great just makes it a win-win!
- 1 tsp of Maca or Matcha Powder to help you wake up even more.
- Ice! A simple and great addition. If you have time to pre-prep, you can try switching up to coconut milk and freeze some cubes of it for a tropical feel.
Feel free to try other non-dairy or dairy milk, whatever you have around will likely work with this simple recipe. If you put this in a to-go container, we recommend your protein shaker; in case the protein powder settles, you can always shake it back up before you take a sip.
